Bob Barton with Urijah Faber

Shooting Combat Sports is His Passion

SFN Staff Report

Feb. 18th 2010

Bob Barton has been going to the fights for over 35 years now. First as a fan but for the last several years he’s had one of the best seats in the house. Bob Barton is the premier combat sports photographer in this area. His list of work is very impressive.

Combat sports photographer for The St. Louis American newspaper for 6 years. Staff photographer for Shamrock Promotions and Rumble Time Promotions. He has provided photography work for Strikeforce, Showtime, Don King Productions, The World Combat League, The St. Louis Post Dispatch, Bash Promotions, Di Bella Entertainment and HBO.

He’s worked for Fight News, Max Boxing, Seconds Out and Ring Magazine. Bob has traveled the country covering combat sports including MMA and Boxing at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills California. He has taken well over 100,000 combat sports photos.

“Combat photography is my passion. I have shot all sports at one time or another and combat sports photography is by far the most difficult to shoot. When I first started to shoot MMA I didn’t know the difference between an arm bar and the corner bar and quickly realized how difficult it is to get that money shot, the glove on the chin or the kick to the head. Anyone can take a photo of 2 fighters standing toe to toe but to get that contact shot with sweat flying and distorted faces takes a lot of on the job training,” Bob told SFN recently.

Bob continues to supply some of the best work we see published today. If you are interested in a top notch photographer for any type of event, you can reach him at http://bobbartonphotography.com.
