Sudden Impact Succeeds in the Crazy Task of 2 Nights of Fights!

It is hard enough to put together a good show when there is so much competition in this area, and Sudden Impact under took a Huge ordeal by holding a 2 day event. The shows, as always, were held at the Heart of St. Charles Banquet Center and sanctioned this time by CSC. The 2 day event featured a title elimination between 4 fighters and up for grabs was the opportunity at the 160 lb Sudden Impact title. Both nights featured some GREAT fights and some fair ones, but both nights were well worth the ticket price. I’ll recap each night separately and highlight the standouts.
Friday Night - Sudden Impact X
180-Kwahn Karnick defeats Travis Henkel by TKO @ 43 seconds of round 1
145-Brock Counts defeats John Good by tapout @ 1:10 of round 1 (Americana)
150-Alptekin Ozkillic defeats Mike Bryant by TKO @ 41 seconds of round 1
145-Josh Crouch defeats Deaton Ellis by tapout @ 2:15 of round 2 (Armbar)
Crouch controlled Ellis the whole time on the ground, getting some G+P in but nothing that finished Ellis off. Crouch went for several submissions in round 2 before finishing him off with the armbar.
Super Heavy-Charles Rogers defeats Sydney Littleton by disqualification after Littleton bit Rogers while on the ground. Sydney has been banned from fighting for CSC for the bite. Rogers was controlling Littleton on the ground before the bite happened.
180-Wes Mongo defeats Adam Madden by TKO @ 2:15 of round 2
135-Mike Sand defeats Kris Hetledge by split decision
175-Gene Bryant defeats Bill Chaney by TKO @ 55 seconds of round 1
Bryant has some great standup skills. He landed a Beautiful head kick that split Chaney’s eye open, then landed blow after blow to Chaney. Very accurate with all his punches, I would live to see him matched up with another standup fighter, it would be a brawl!
175-Elijah Neese defeats Rob Miller by tapout @ 1:22 of round 1 (Rear Naked)
160-Justin Woehler defeats Adam Flowers for the Sudden Impact K1 Thai Middleweight Title
160-Dan Busch defeats Mark Chappell by split decision
This was easily the fight of the night. This was a rematch from a previous FANTASTIC fight between the two. This time was no different, they both had great takedowns, reversing each other left and right and trying to finish each other off. The winner of this fight gets to fight Saturday nights winner for the title, so both fighters were hungry for a win. I could easily watch these two battle it out for a third time.
Saturday Night- Sudden Impact XI
170-Shawn Knobelock defeats Jason Carls by TKO @ 2:52 of round 1
170-Kyle McCann defeats Matt Woods by tapout @ 2:35 of round 1(Armbar)
All I have to say is McCann has some VICIOUS ground and pound, extremely accurate and brutal to watch
155-Paul Shultz defeats Gary Perry by tapout @ 56 seconds of round 1
185-Bo Nicks defeats Jason Alicea by tapout @52 seconds of round 2
155-Brandon Knights defeats Charles Burkhart by TKO @ 1:27 of round 1
205-Branden Wehmeir defeats Tim Robbins by tapout @ 2:10 of round 1 (RearNaked)
225-Jeremy Connor defeats Tony Bucheck by TKO @ 1:00 of round 2
205-Jake Weiss defeats Tommy Glover by tapout @ 1:30 of round 1 (Armbar)
160-Martin Giger defeats Dan Velten by tapout @ 2:58 of round 1 (RearNaked)
Despite ending in the first round, this was a great fight. Velton got the TD and went for the rear naked, but couldn’t sink it in so he switched to the armbar. Martin reverses and Velten gave up his back trying to get out. Martin sinks in the rear naked and with 2 seconds to go in the round, Velten taps.
160-Eric Vasquez defeats Dustin Miller by TKO @ 22 seconds of round 2
This fight was dominated by Vasquez, he now gets to fight Busch for the title and he is hungry for the opportunity for that belt. I CANNOT WAIT to see the fight between Busch and Vasquez on April 9th.
145- Aaron Brown defeats Kevin Bathan by split decision
This was awarded fight of the night. These two fighters are what every amateur should aspire to look like in the cage. This was an extremely close fight between the two. Both have Fantastic leg kicks, takedowns and submissions. Brown was awarded the decision and the new title of Sudden Impact Featherweight Champion. I would LOVE to see a rematch of these two.
April 9th is Sudden Impact’s next show and it promises to be one of the best shows so far. With numerous title up for grabs, be sure to get your tickets early!!!!
